Launching the #PRStud”Cast”

I’m not going to lie, this is pretty cool.  I like to think that I’ve been doing a lot of great work over the past year, but this new opportunity really takes the cake. Being able to produce and co-host the new #PRStudChat Podcast series is an incredible feeling.

That being said, my co-host, Ashley Funderburk and I understand the responsibility that comes with this opportunity.   The #PRStudChat community is a tightly knit, collaborative, educational, and inspiring community that is just an honor to be apart of.  We want to maintain the qualities that this community exudes each and everyday, and there’s a lot of work that goes into it.

Through interviews, interesting topics, insight and a little bit of personality, we hope to put a voice on all of our tweets.  I guess that’s kind of why I pitched this idea to Deirdre and Valerie.  We collaborate everyday through Twitter, but sometimes information in text is not enough.  I feel that putting a voice on those tweets and this community will only enhance our growth and take this community as a whole to a whole new level.

This podcast isn’t just for me, nor Ashley.  This is for all of us.  While the public relations industry is highly competitive, it is extremely collaborative.  We learn and share from each other through every opportunity we get.  We help each other reach our goals and find the answers that may not be there otherwise.  This is the #PRStudChat mentality, and I hope that this podcast can be a worthy extension of that.

We will be releasing our first episode next Wednesday, and we are happy to announce that our first guest will be former PRSSA National President Brandi Boatner.  We hope you like what we have to offer, and that we serve the #PRStudChat community well.

Thank you for allowing us to be your voice.

#PRSTUDCHAT’s Site Launch

Welcome to the PRStudChat blog where PR students, educators and professionals can share knowledge and discuss the many changes in the PR industry.  We launched this blog to further develop our community and to create a platform that furthers our quest to educate on the best practices in PR.

In addition to launching this blog, we are also proud to announce a new podcast series created by two of our PRStudChat community members, Harrison Kratz and Ashley Funderburk.  Both Harrison and Ashley are excited to share their PRStudChat podcast interviews with the rest of the community in an effort to keep the PR knowledge and discussions continuing in between our monthly chat sessions.  They will be discussing the latest in PR, social media, technology, organizational communications challenges and what’s happening in the news.  They will also be hosting a PRStudChat “After Hours” interview and will invite special guests to chat with them after each live Twitter session.

Creating this blog and podcast series, as well as creating an active LinkedIn group is another step to further the growth of our community and to raise awareness about public relations and the value that it brings to organizations.  We look forward to collaborating with you and we appreciate your continued interaction and support as a member of the PRStudChat community.
